What a week!! Many wonderful things have been happening in my life, and I'm so excited about what the future holds. With that in mind, I want to dive headfirst into this week's top 5.
Wearing Socks During Sex Helps You Have a Better O
I have had many debates with friends and previous lovers on this topic, and I have always asked to leave my socks on. It always made sense to me that cozy feet would help me get there sexually. I'm cozier and "safe" in general when wearing socks; why wouldn't that relate to being more cozy and safe with enjoying intimacy or getting to an orgasm. So, I wanted to share the research with all of you to start leaving those socks on too.
A Kink in the Cure
I love when I can find a new site or book or podcast or anything really, and I have two things I discovered this past week I am very excited to share with you. The first is "A Kink in the Cure," created by Tim Murray, and not only do I find the concept of this performance piece amazing, but the information and resources on this page are phenomenal!!
"A Kink in the Cure is a performance piece centered in the world of sexual trauma, kink, and BDSM (Bondage and Discipline, Dominance and Submission, Sadism and Masochism). Similar to The Vagina Monologues, the live performance, as well as the written work, includes stories from people who have a history of sexual abuse and trauma and explores how the practice of BDSM has had an effect on their healing process.
Created by Tim Murray, A Kink the Cure was designed to explore the fascinating, and still hidden, stories of abuse survivors who identify as “kinky.” The piece provides a frank look at some uncomfortable truths about sexual abuse and violence in our culture. Focusing on the survivors’ experiences, Murray addresses the ways in which “kink” has acted as both a barrier and a benefit to those attempting to address the lingering shame and trauma resulting from their abuse."
Sex Out Loud with Tristan Taormino Podcast
This is one of my favorite podcasts and one that I definitely recommend to just about everyone. I don't think I have ever listened to an episode and either not learned something or heard an amazing story or found a new resource.
"Join award-winning author, speaker, sex educator, and media maker Tristan Taormino as she explores the world of sexuality from every angle. Tristan interviews leading authors, educators, artists, and icons about sexual pleasure, sexual wellness, identity, relationships, community, and social justice. Tristan also shares her twenty years of experience with honest, sex-positive sex advice for listeners. Excited by sexual pleasure and sexual politics? You’ve come to the right place. This program contains explicit content that may be unsuitable for some listeners."
I Live in the County & other dirty poems.
I heard about this book on the most recent episode of Tristan Taormino's podcast. The author was on the show and read a few of her poems, and I fell in love. I immediately ordered the book. I have read a few to my husband, and he's enjoying them just as much as I am. It is definitely worth a read.
Pervertables...Getting Kinky with Everyday Items
Getting started with kink play can be intimidating, especially when you look at all the gear at a local adult toy store. Did you know, though, that many of the items you already have around your house can be used for kinky fun. This article does a great job explaining what pervertables are, how to evaluate items for use, and how to use various items for kink play. Please give it a read, then go on a scavenger hunt in your house for pervertables.
