Hello and welcome to a new week once again. My day has been blah, to say the least. I got my second dose of the Covid vaccine yesterday, and I was knocked out most of the day Sunday. Despite that, I still have some stuff I really want to share with you all this week. If you did not know, May is International Masturbation Month. Some of you may be asking "Why?" or saying, "Huh?", here's what you need to know. Masturbation May began in 1995, as just Masturbation Day. The sex-positive retailer Good Vibrations declared the day in honor of Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders, who was fired in 1994 by President Bill Clinton for suggesting masturbation be part of the sex education curriculum for students. Over time, the original day, expanded to an entire month and from a localized celebration to an international one. In honor of Masturbation Month, this week's blog will be all about masturbation.
#1 Good Vibrations

I can't talk about Masturbation Month and not shout out the organization and company that started it all. Not only does Good Vibrations sell amazing sex toys, intimate aids, and more, they also have a phenomenal blog, host workshops, and provide sexual education to many. There are so many wonderful resources and products I can not possibly get to them all. If you are in the market for a new adult toy, please feel free to reach out, and we can discuss options in a session, or you can hire me as your personal shopper to help you figure out what you want, and yes, the personal shopper services extend to online stores as well.
#2 Advance Male Masturbation Techniques
I had a conversation with my husband this week about how when it comes to masturbation, minimal emphasis is ever put on men. While I am very aware of the pleasure gap and realize that most men do not struggle with masturbation and achieving orgasm, that doesn't mean they still can't enjoy it more or have new experiences. I loved this article from the good vibrations blog about some more advanced techniques and ideas men could try to enhance and change their masturbatory experience.
#3 Female Ejaculation
https://www.healthline.com/health/healthy-sex/female-ejaculation
While female ejaculation is still a much-debated experience, and believe me, it looks nothing like what you may or may not have seen on porn for 99% of women, I wanted to include a good article on the topic of it. There are so many different types of orgasm women, and vulva owners can experience. I thoroughly invite and encourage all of those with a vulva to explore all the different kinds. Are all vulva owners able to experience all types of orgasm? No! And guess what, that is perfectly and totally normal and fine. We are all unique individuals and how we experience pleasure is a unique experience for all of us. If female ejaculation is something you have been interested in, give this article a read, and if you need additional help, please feel free to reach out.
#4 Playing Without a Partner
I recently listened to another episode of Sex with Emily where she had guest Dr. Megan Stubbs. She discussed her book and it is all about realizing that being single is not just a waiting period until the next relationship, but can be our destination. Also, she discussed the magic that can be found in pleasuring ourselves. For all genders, but especially vulva owners it is so critical to explore our bodies and find what feels good to us. This includes not just touching of the vulva and clitoris or vagina, but also your nipples, hips, thighs, belly, neck, breast, face, etc. When we play with ourselves we can explore different touches, pressures, speeds, as well as sensations and textures. If we do not know what it is that we enjoy, how can we expect someone else to know how to please us. I have added this book to my to-read list, and I encourage you all to add it to yours as well.
#5 OMG YES

I first heard about OMG YES, probably 5 or 6 years ago, and it came up recently in a conversation with a friend, again. Honestly, it is one of those things I had completely forgotten about, but now I'm sad to say I had forgotten. This company and the resource they provide along with the practical knowledge is phenomenal. OMG YES is a website and app that teaches you techniques as well as health knowledge about vulvas and how to pleasure them. There is a cost to it, and I know for some it is a bit pricey, but if you want to be better at pleasuring your own vulva or that of another, I definitely encourage you to at least check the website out and see what it is all about. You might find the OMG YES is just what you have been looking for.
